Everything old is new again, even in jewellery.
If you are interested in accessorizing your outfits in a new and stylish way, look to the past. This season it’s all about nostalgia and you might be surprised to learn what’s making a comeback.
According to Terrilyn Rosset at Savoy’s Jewellers, you can’t go wrong right now with any of the following:
The last time this style of necklace was “in” was probably the 1990s, with a brief resurgence in the 2000s, but no matter how old you were then (or are now), they are a modern way to update any outfit.
This Cluster Choker from Ania Haie features a cluster of cubic zirconia baguettes. It’s a stunning fashion piece made of 925 sterling silver with 14k gold plating. A choker can be worn with both a dressy and a casual ensemble. This comes with a 5-cm extender so you can ensure the perfect fit; it is also available in a 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating.
The Swarovski Naughty Choker takes the necklace to another level altogether, thanks to its on-trend feather motif and black crystal pavé. The chain itself is plated in a rose-gold tone, rendering it both pretty and bold at the same time.
Pearl necklaces are back in a big way, though in a newer iteration than we last saw them. To look current in pearls, many of the newer styles are a mix of materials: for instance, half pearls, half gold chain. This lightens the look and gives it a more modern edge.
This delicate pearl strand from the Swarovski Remix Collection is a prime example of a modern take on pearls. The gold chain is embellished with both clear crystals and white crystal pearls. The combination of shine from the crystals and lustrous sheen of the pearls is at once simple and beautiful.
Thick gold chains
A nod to the 1980s here, it’s officially time to welcome back big chunky gold chains. Whether you wore one (or just admired them) the first time they were in style or you’re brand new to the trend and are eager to add a piece to your wardrobe, these thicker pieces come in both necklaces and bracelets.
This Italgem Steel Chain has some real visual weight to it. It’s a curb-link necklace made of gold-plated stainless steel; it is 22” long and comes with a 2” extender.
For a statement-making bracelet, the diamond bracelet with alternating links can’t be beat. This piece from Gabriel Fashion alternates white chain links with 0.47ct diamonds and yellow rope circles. The look of this tennis bracelet from the Hampton collection is definitely luxe, mixing yellow and white gold.
Wide gold bands
Wedding bands look very of the moment done in gold, especially when they have a heft to them. They’re substantial, wide bands that are definitely attention-getters.
There’s no missing this wide wedding band from Maple Leaf Diamonds. This 10-karat Canadian certified gold wedding band features a gorgeous etching detail on the inside. If you prefer one that is encrusted in diamonds, this diamond wedding band is sure to please. For a selection that truly stands out, consider these 14k rose gold wedding bands from Verragio; they’re both classic and current.
Ear cuffs are always a beautiful touch. They look especially elegant worn with updos, shorter haircuts or even long locks that have simply been pinned back. This is a style you definitely want to show off and they work with casual outfits just as well as fancier, dressier ones.
The Glow ear cuff from Ania is made of 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating. It’s an ear climber that features a cubic zirconia baguette for added sparkle. For some extra drama, try the Glow crawler ear cuff from Ania, with its looping circles and shiny gold finish.
Any one of these pieces will update your look this season and have you feeling current.
