Doria Ragland showed ‘individuality’ at Meghan Markle’s wedding with ‘sparkling nose stud’

Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland turns 67 today and looks fabulous in everything she wears – including her gorgeous jewellery.

James Harris, the Regional Sales Manager at Austen & Blake spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to analyse Doria’s taste in style.

Mr Harris said: “From Doria Ragland’s public appearances, we can see she often selects simple pieces of jewellery that make a statement, with some holding sentimental value.

“She opts for delicate, matching sets that flatter and complement her sophisticated look, including trouser suits and fitted dresses, rather than overpowering them.

“We’ve spotted Doria wearing several earring styles. From pearl drops to hoops and intricate dangle earrings, Doria is not afraid of trying something new and expressing her personal style through her choices.

“This is also evident in that, at Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding, Doria wore a sparkling nose stud to the ceremony. This piece of jewellery may not usually be worn for a formal occasion, showcasing her individuality and creativity.

“When she attended the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards in New York, Doria was photographed wearing a necklace with a circular pendant engraved with her grandchildren’s names.

“This a beautiful way to keep the children close to her heart for everyone to see, while showing what a proud grandparent she is.

“Her beautiful choices in jewellery combine to create looks that allow each piece to shine and showcase her personality. Jewellery should always be a personal choice and help the wearer feel empowered through self-expression.”

In her later years, Her Majesty had a very particular way of dressing, which most people would instantly recognise. Queen Elizabeth always wore bright dress coats of every colour of the rainbow in so that members of the public could spot her during big royal events.

In the documentary ‘The Queen at 90’, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, explained: “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the Queen, Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, ten, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the Queen’s hat as she went past.”

However, Queen Elizabeth’s ability to communicate through her clothing has been a big influence on her grandaughters-in-law, Kate and Meghan, and also made her an “unmistakable fashion icon in her own time”, according to one fashion expert.

Miranda Holder, who is a celebrity stylist who has become extremely popular online for her ability to explain the details of royal fashion, has explained why Queen Elizabeth’s fashion in later Elizabeth was her “most notable and iconic.”

In an interview with the Express, Miranda said: “The latter ensembles of bright, colourful monochrome, complete with matching hat, umbrella and coordinating shoes and Launer handbag.

“She showed the rest of the firm how to embrace diplomatic dressing, wearing outfits to make others around her feel comfortable and acknowledged, and adding precious jewellery full of symbolism, setting the standard in the art of communicating through clothing.”

Meghan Markle was spotted boarding a flight from Los Angeles to London Monday night to join husband Prince Harry ahead of the Invictus Games, dressed in a laid-back look worth a whopping $40,000.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of wide-leg, sailor-style Ulla Johnson Polina pants ($590) along with her favorite pointy-toed white Valentino Roman Stud flats, which originally retailed for $770 but are now sold out.

She further accessorized with Celine Triomphe sunglasses ($510), a Janessa Leone Michon hat ($267) and a Goyard Bellechasse Biaude PM tote, the latter of which retails for over $2,000; Markle’s Hermès Brides de Gala scarf ($1,225) could be seen peeking out of the logo-covered carryall.

Meghan Markle opted for an array on monochrome outfits for the first day on the Invictus Games in Germany today.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, boarded a plane from Los Angeles to Europe in an all black ensemble, before quickly getting ready in her Dusseldorf hotel room and heading to the games in a black shirt dress from Banana Republic, which she paired with black shoes and a black belt.

She then appeared on Wednesday in a black and white number – with white shorts, a black tank top and a white cardigan from J Crew.

Then the royal opted for go all black again, in black jeans, heels and a tank top – which she paired with a white blazer.

Despite often wearing colour while a working royal, Meghan claimed she ‘toned down’ her wardrobe while she living in the UK to avoid clashing with more senior members of the Royal Family.

On Saturday night, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the closing ceremony for the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. At the event, Meghan wore a stunning look by Cult Gaia. The strapless column dress was in a rich peacock green and covered in an embroidered floral pattern with touches of silver.

On her feet were a pair of nude Aquazurra pumps, and she wore a Cartier bracelet and a diamond pinky ring from Lorraine Schwartz for added sparkle. She had her hair slicked back into an elegant bun and wore a natural makeup palette with a glossy lip. Harry was dressed in a black suit over a matching button down and dress shoes. The couple posed with the evening’s entertainment, pop star Rita Ora and Eurovision star Sam Ryder.

At the closing ceremony, according to The Mirror, Harry thanked the competitors for their inspirational commitment to the games.

“We’ve all witnessed the true impact sport has had on your recovery,” he said. “But you will never truly know the impact your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world. You have opened people’s hearts through your vulnerability, through your resilience, and your transparent abilities. You have shown us that joy can emerge from struggle.”

The Invictus Games were begun by Prince Harry and they are meant to honor both current servicemen and women as well as veterans who have become sick or injured. Earlier this week, Meghan wore another elegant outfit while attending the Team Canada reception at Hilton Hotel to meet the competitors.

Meghan Markle stunned royal fans with the iconic wedding dress she wore to marry Prince Harry in 2018.

The Duchess of Sussex went for a traditional wedding gown that was very reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s.

It was made of silk with three-quarter-length sleeves, an open bateau neckline and a train with a built-in triple silk organza underskirt.

A double-bonded silk cady was developed for the construction of the dress, which featured only six seams.

It featured no lace or any other embellishments.

The veil was five meters long and made from silk tulle.

It was embroidered with flowers of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, as well as the California poppy, in honour of Meghan’s home state and wintersweet, a flower that grows at Kensington Palace.

At the very front of it, crops of wheat were embroidered and blended into the flowers, to symbolise love and charity.

It was said that the fashion house spent 3,900 hours embroidering it.

The veil was held in place by Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to Meghan by the late Queen.

The diamond bandeau is English and was made in 1932, with the centre brooch dating from 1893.

Meghan Markle was spotted in California yesterday on a hike, just a day after King Charles’s coronation. Prince Harry—who returned to California Saturday evening—stayed home with their children, Prince Archie, who just turned 4, and Princess Lilibet.

For the Duchess of Sussex’s first appearance since the coronation, she kept it casual and comfortable in navy leggings, a navy t-shirt, and her go-to J. Crew lightweight jacket (which is unfortunately sold out). She accessorized with with a wide-brimmed Panama hat, Victoria Beckham sunglasses, and a pink bandana tied around her neck.
