Besides their glossy girl-next-door good looks, the Princess of Wales and Bellamy have a few remarkable things in common despite their 20-year age gap. Both women were brought up largely in the Royal County of Berkshire, and both were enthusiastic all-rounders at school. 

Bellamy, who attended St Crispin’s school in Wokingham, tells me she loved team sports, while Kate is known to have dabbled in lacrosse, hockey, tennis and netball during her time at St Andrew’s prep school, near Pangbourne, and Marlborough College. Drama played a big role for them both, too; Kate starred as Eliza Doolittle in one school production of My Fair Lady, while Bellamy was cast as Sandy in Grease. They both like to be as private as possible, with Bellamy preferring to keep mum about her family and relationship status. 

Bellamy depicts Kate during her time at the University of St Andrews in Fife, from 2001 to 2005. This was the early stages of her relationship with Prince William, a time when the now world-famous couple could fly relatively under the radar. We’ll see her recreate standout moments in their trajectory, such as the university fashion show at which the history of art student wore a sheer black skirt hoiked up to create a dress that reportedly made Prince William in the audience exclaim, ‘Wow, Kate’s hot.’

Doria Ragland showed ‘individuality’ at Meghan Markle’s wedding with ‘sparkling nose stud’

Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland turns 67 today and looks fabulous in everything she wears – including her gorgeous jewellery.

James Harris, the Regional Sales Manager at Austen & Blake spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to analyse Doria’s taste in style.

Mr Harris said: “From Doria Ragland’s public appearances, we can see she often selects simple pieces of jewellery that make a statement, with some holding sentimental value.

“She opts for delicate, matching sets that flatter and complement her sophisticated look, including trouser suits and fitted dresses, rather than overpowering them.

“We’ve spotted Doria wearing several earring styles. From pearl drops to hoops and intricate dangle earrings, Doria is not afraid of trying something new and expressing her personal style through her choices.

“This is also evident in that, at Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding, Doria wore a sparkling nose stud to the ceremony. This piece of jewellery may not usually be worn for a formal occasion, showcasing her individuality and creativity.

“When she attended the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards in New York, Doria was photographed wearing a necklace with a circular pendant engraved with her grandchildren’s names.

“This a beautiful way to keep the children close to her heart for everyone to see, while showing what a proud grandparent she is.

“Her beautiful choices in jewellery combine to create looks that allow each piece to shine and showcase her personality. Jewellery should always be a personal choice and help the wearer feel empowered through self-expression.”

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade stepped out for a fashionable date night in New York City.

The couple made the streets of New York City their personal runway on Wednesday, September 20. For the outing, Union, 50, slayed in a gray maxi dress finished with a strapless neckline and a flowy skirt. She rocked the frock with a thin off-white coat, finished with a tailored collar and a slight train.

Styled by Thomas Christos Kikis, Union accessorized with a white Prada handbag, diamond rings and black pointed-toe boots. For glam, she donned natural foundation, orange eyeshadow blended into her crease, matching glitter on her lids, rosy cheeks, a warm contour, filled-in eyebrows, long lashes and glossy lips. Her brunette tresses were slicked back and twisted into an updo.

Wade, 41, for his part, held Union’s hand and looked super stylish in a sparkly chevron patterned set. He paired the jacket and pants with a navy blue T-shirt, a diamond necklace, sparkly stud earrings and snazzy sneakers.

This isn’t the first standout outfit the couple has donned. On Thursday, September 21, they made an appearance at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in NYC — and again killed the style game.

For the event, Union rocked a black silky top featuring a plunging neckline. She tucked the piece into matching pants and added a pop of color to the ensemble with a bright red blazer. The actress made the getup even more exciting with strappy heels and a top-knot bun.

In the photo, the Vanderpump Rules cast member posed poolside, writing “Let’s get deep” in the Instagram caption, rocking a short black dress covered by a long black coat. In addition to wearing her ’90s-style dark brunette locks in a slicked-back style and donning a smoky eye makeup look, the sandwich shop co-owner also rocked a head-turning pair of sparkly mesh boots. 

The boots were definitely a hit in the comments section, with Scheana Shay writing, “How many [fire] emojis can I post on this!!!???” Meanwhile, Ally Lewber also jumped in with some heat of her own, writing, “Yes, please.” 

More recently, Katie again brought the sparkle, this time with a smoldering swimsuit look.

On August 11, Katie took to her Instagram Stories to share some moments from a day at the beach with a group of friends. For the occasion, the brunette beauty donned a sparkly silver bikini, spicing up that swimsuit even more with an oversize black short-sleeve button-down with a white floral print. 

“Soooooooo beachy,” she wrote over the snap, in which she also rocked a few silver necklaces, small hoop earrings, and dark sunglasses. 

Katie went on to share a snapshot of herself in the look walking with her pal, Scheana, who opted for a more colorful style with a pink-and-blue ombré tube top and ruffled skirt.

A cheat sheet to the history and design behind the traditional attire

Malaysia is a multicultural country that boasts a uniquely vibrant tradition and heritage. When talking about traditions, beautiful traditional attire is definitely one of the first things that comes to mind. In conjunction with Merdeka, we look back and explore the story behind some of the traditional wear that we have in our country—starting from the Cheongsam.

As fellow Malaysians, we all know that the Cheongsam is a dress worn by Chinese women during festivities and special occasions, but do you really understand its roots? To deepen your knowledge of this beautiful piece of traditional clothing, we’ve tracked back to its origin to learn all there is to know about the Cheongsam.

Looking back at its origin…

Cheongsam is one of the classic representations of Chinese attire, created during the transition from ancient times to the modern. Traditionally known as the qipao in Mandarin, it’s no surprise that the garment originated in China. But did you know that it was first introduced in the 17th century during the Manchu rule?

The word qipao translates to banner gown, signifying its one-piece style dress. The original style was loose and A-lined, with long, full sleeves and was worn among high nobles in court. Its silhouette was a lot more modest than the cheongsam we’re used to seeing. The modern-fitted cheongsam we see today was first popularised by celebrities and socialites in Shanghai as early as the 1920s—possibly inspired by the roaring ’20s movement and flapper dresses.

 

Learning the categories…

This traditional Chinese garment spread throughout all regions of China and eventually, some continents designed variations of the dress with their own twist. Therefore, two types of Cheongsams were created, namely the Shanghai-style and Beijing-style Cheongsams.

Olivia Rodrigo’s London Looks Are Pure Rock & Roll With a Gen-Z Edge

After putting a rather vampy spin on the LBD late last month, Olivia Rodrigo seems to have gone in a completely opposite direction for her latest looks. While leaving BBC Radio Studios in London on Tuesday, the singer showed off another mini dress (from French brand Patou) but in a stark shade compared to her all-black look. Rodrigo was seen wearing a turtleneck-style mini dress. The piece (done up in knitted, fuzzy fabric) followed a simple, yet extremely short, silhouette.

Her white patent leather boots added a rock edge to the look as did her oval sunglasses. Rodrigo is known for her vintage-meets-modern style, so it’s no surprise that the look had hints of the ‘70s and ‘90s to it. Speaking of days gone back—Rodrigo seemed to take her nostalgia obsession for the decade one step further in a look she wore earlier in the day.

When arriving to the studio, the pop star wore a graphic t-shirt with an image of iconic rocker Pat Benatar strewn across the front—the piece was sourced from vintage store What Goes Around Comes Around. She tucked the piece into a Sandy Liang gray skirt that had a very business-casual look to it, aside from the extremely mini silhouette.

For footwear, Rodrigo traded her go-go boots for a much more simple, and familiar, choice—leather Mary Janes. The pair had a small heel, square toe shape, and a simple strap across the front (she also styled them with ankle-length white socks). But Rodrigo’s embrace of flats didn’t stop there. Jennifer Lopez Re-creates Princess Diana’s Signature Off-Duty Outfit Formula

In the “Let’s Get Loud” singer’s latest Instagram post, she’s put her own modern twist on an outfit formula often favored by the late royal and fashion icon.

Lopez shared photos of herself in an equestrian-chic look, composed of pieces from womenswear brand A.L.C. The outfit consisted of a chocolate-brown blazer layered on top of a breezy white button-up, which she wore slightly unbuttoned to create a plunging neckline. The top was tucked into a pair of high-rise blue jeans. She accessorized with layers of gold-chain pendant necklaces, an array of glittering rings, gold hoop earrings, and a pair of ’70s-esque amber-tinted sunglasses. In the forefront of the photo, Lopez’s caramel suede Hermès Birkin bag sat on a dressing room table.

In the caption, the Marry Me star wrote, “Still got me looking like the baddest… @alc_ltd.”

Fans of the late Princess of Wales may recognize some similarities between Lopez’s ensemble and the royal’s many off-duty looks over the years. Diana often paired a boxy blazer (a wardrobe staple that quickly became synonymous with her sense of style) with a laidback top and high-rise denim jeans. Diana, too, had an affinity for purses to rival Lopez’s love of Birkins; Gucci even renamed their bamboo-handle tote bag after the royal popularized the style.
