While fashion trends come and go, engagement rings are not a style investment to take lightly — the average engagement ring in the US was $5,500 in 2020, according to Statista.

Business Insider spoke to three jewelers based in London, UK, about the engagement ring trends they think will be popular in 2024.

Of the three jewelers BI spoke to, two said Gen Z couples are more likely to choose a ring together than previous generations, because they want the ring to reflect their personality.

Bear Brooksbank is the owner of a jewelry studio in London. Since setting up shop in 2012, she said engagement ring styles have evolved considerably.

She told BI that trends now point toward yellow gold being the favored metal used in rings, moving away from the classic trend of platinum.

Multiple celebrities have worn yellow gold engagement rings this year, such as Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Cooper, and Barbara Palvin, according to jewelry publication Only Natural Diamonds.

This isn’t the first time Gen Z superstar Jacob Elordi rocked a Cartier Tank in public, and we doubt it’ll be the last.

The Euphoria star, previously spotted wearing a Tank Normale in 18-karat yellow gold, seems to have a soft spot for the iconic dress watch. Though he was once an ambassador for TAG Heuer, it’s the Tank that he’s worn to two separate appearances while promoting Sofia Coppola’s new film Priscilla, in which he plays Elvis. This week, he pulled out yet another beautiful model, a diamond-studded Tank Must, on The Today Show, proving that the moderately sized, slim-wearing watch is alive and well among today’s young collectors.

Unlike the solid-gold Normale, the Tank Must is more of a bare-bones, entry-level model. This particular version, however, adds diamonds to the watch’s famous brancards, turning a somewhat pedestrian reference into a stealthy flex with 42 brilliant-cut stones and a synthetic cabochon crown. Powered by a high-autonomy quartz movement, it might not have the Normale’s horological cachet, but it should certainly appeal to watch lovers both casual and serious—and it’s fairly widely available for $6,850.

In case you missed the Must craze: Back in the 1970s, Cartier released an affordable line of paired-down fare—watches, perfumes, and more—that offered the maison’s class at a more palatable price. IN HER ROLE as Wendy Rhoades in the Showtime series Billions, Maggie Siff has long dressed in understated luxury. And what is more elegantly streamlined than classic Cartier?

Rhoades, while not a billionaire, is high on the pay scale as the performance coach for Axe Capital, owned by Bobby Alexelrod (Damian Lewis). And she is impressively commanding when dealing with the drama’s powerful men.

Jacki Roach, costume designer for seasons 6 and 7, explains that Cartier was the perfect choice for jewelry for her. “Cartier is iconic and timeless, and when a woman puts on a piece by the famed house, she instantly feels chic, and her look is elevated,” she says. “Cartier jewelry as part of Wendy’s costumes helped us convey the character’s sense of style and taste. The Cartier pieces we used are so special; they really helped us create and continue developing Wendy’s persona until the very end.”

For those who are both Cartier Jewelry and the Showtime series Billions enthusiasts, you will be thrilled to learn that Cartier (who has many film credits dating back to Hollywood’s Heyday) provided the jewelry for the final season of the show and the last episode which aired on October 28, 2023, The pieces were worn by Maggie Siff in her role as Wendy Rhoades, who from season one proved to be as powerful if not more so then the male characters on the show. Meghan Markle wears $40K worth of designer duds on flight to join Prince Harry at Invictus Games

How’s that for quiet luxury?

Meghan Markle was spotted boarding a flight from Los Angeles to London Monday night to join husband Prince Harry ahead of the Invictus Games, dressed in a laid-back look worth a whopping $40,000.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of wide-leg, sailor-style Ulla Johnson Polina pants ($590) along with her favorite pointy-toed white Valentino Roman Stud flats, which originally retailed for $770 but are now sold out.

She further accessorized with Celine Triomphe sunglasses ($510), a Janessa Leone Michon hat ($267) and a Goyard Bellechasse Biaude PM tote, the latter of which retails for over $2,000; Markle’s Hermès Brides de Gala scarf ($1,225) could be seen peeking out of the logo-covered carryall.
